About Dr. Spencer Liebel
Dr. Spencer Liebel brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the field of neuropsychology. With a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia and postdoctoral fellowship training at the University of Michigan, Dr. Liebel's academic journey has been one of constant growth and dedication.
Now as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Utah School of Medicine, Dr. Liebel is at the forefront of cognitive and affective neuroscience research. His specialization in brain-behavior relationships in patients and athletes with traumatic brain injury, especially sport-related concussion, has led to groundbreaking insights. With expertise in multimodal neuroimaging and neuropsychological assessments, his work is a fusion of cognitive neuroscience, clinical psychology, and neuropsychology. View full resume here.

Dr. Liebel's dual roles as a researcher and clinician allow him to bridge the gap between theory and practice. In his clinical practice at the University of Utah, Dr. Liebel provides comprehensive evaluations for patients and clients across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and medicolegal/forensic scenarios. His range of expertise encompasses traumatic brain injury, dementia, cerebrovascular events, and psychiatric disturbances.
His research pursuits are no less impressive. His investigations into brain-behavior relationships in patients and athletes with traumatic brain injury, particularly sport-related concussion, have earned him recognition in the field. He is an active member of multiple international scientific organizations, including the International Neuropsychological Society and Sports Neuropsychology Society, where he regularly presents his research.
